‘Wicked’ and ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ Among Trailer Debuts for Super Bowl LVIII

Super Bowl LVIII was one for the books! With a nail-biting ending in overtime, a spectacular halftime show that saw Usher bring the house down, and the continuing fairytale romance of the current media “It Couple,” Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce. As if that wasn’t enough excitement, the Super Bowl also saw the debut of several new trailers for some of the year’s most anticipated movies.

 Among the most exciting trailers that aired were Wicked and Deadpool & Wolverine. There were also some surprises, like the release of the trailer for Twisters, a sequel to the 90’s tornado blockbuster Twister.

 Here are some of the biggest movie trailers that debuted during the Super Bowl:

 

Wicked

Universal Pictures finally gave audiences the first glimpse of its highly anticipated film. Based on the award-winning Broadway musical, Wicked stars Cynthia Erivo as Elphaba, Ariana Grande as Glinda, and Jeff Goldblum as the Wizard. Wicked flies into theaters Thanksgiving week on Nov. 27.

 

Deadpool & Wolverine

The infamous antihero of the Marvel Universe returns this year with the third movie in the franchise, but this time with Wolverine in tow. Ryan Reynolds reprises his role as Deadpool, and Hugh Jackman returns to his iconic role of Wolverine. This movie boasts a star-studded cast, including Morena Baccarin, Jennifer Garner, Patrick Stewart, and Matthew Macfayden. Deadpool & Wolverine lands in theaters on July 26.

 

 

Twisters

Universal Pictures also released a trailer for Twisters, a new storm-chasing chapter to its 90’s blockbuster Twister. This story brings together a new cast of characters determined to learn how to predict and even tame tornadoes, much like the original story. Katy O’Brian, Glen Powell, and Maura Tierney lead the cast. Twisters storms into theaters on July 19.

 

 

 Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes

20th Century Studios dropped the trailer for the Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes, the new installation in the Planet of the Apes franchise. This new film is set in the future, several generations after Caesar’s reign, and will once again find the apes fighting each other, with one side aiding the humans. This new film stars Freya Allan, Dichen Lachman, and Kevin Durand. Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes swings into theaters on May 10.
