The ‘Frasier’ Reboot is Happening!
Frasier fans, gear up! The long-awaited follow-up is finally a reality. Paramount+ has given the green light to the multi-camera comedy, executive produced by Kelsey Grammer. He’ll also be reprising his role as psychiatrist-turned-radio host Frasier Crane, who first appeared on Cheers. The streamer had announced the development of a revival early in 2021, but now, the sitcom has been formally picked up.
As of yet, there has been no confirmation on who Grammer’s co-stars will be, since it will focus on Dr. Crane living in a new city, with new characters, but be on the lookout for cameos from original cast members Jane Leeves, Peri Gilpin, and David Hyde Pierce.
Although it has not been confirmed, sources say it will likely consist of 10 episodes. Frasier ran for 11 seasons between 1993 and 2004 on NBC and set a record for the most Emmy Awards won by a scripted series at the time, 37, including five consecutive Emmys for Outstanding Comedy Series.
Alongside Grammer, executive producers include Tom Russo and Jordan McMahon, as well as writers Chris Harris (How I Met Your Mother) and Joe Cristalli (Life In Pieces). Grammer’s Grammnet NH Productions will produce the new series, along with CBS Studios.
