‘Squid Game’ lead Lee Jung-jae takes home a Critics Choice Award
The actor was also nominated this year for a Golden Globe and Screen Actors Guild Award
It has been one heck of a ride for veteran South Korean Actor Lee Jung-jae, who made history once again by becoming the first Asian actor to win Best Actor in a Drama Series at the Critics Choice Awards. The actor thanked “God” and everyone who loved and followed the series, as well as his co-stars. His co-star and Emmy Award-winner Jung Ho-yeon was also on hand to cheer him on, along with Park Hae-soon.
The 27th annual Critics Choice Awards were held on March 13, and although the awards show began in 1996, it wasn’t until 2011 that the ceremony added Best Actor in a Drama Series. That first award went to “Mad Men” actor Jon Hamm. Lee made history by becoming the first Asian actor to win the accolade in the award’s history. Members of the Critics Choice Association vote on the winners, and Lee has won a slew of awards so far.
“Squid Game” became the most-watched Netflix series of all time, with 111 million accounts watching at least two minutes of the show in the first month it premiered. Congratulations to the actor!
