Paramount Pictures Drops Trailer for ‘Mean Girls’

Let’s get ready to go back to high school with the new Mean Girls. Paramount Pictures has released the official trailer for the new version of this 2000s classic.

 Although not evident in the trailer, this new Mean Girls film is actually based on the Broadway musical. Tina Fey, a writer on the original film and writer behind the musical, was also the writer for this new movie. Samantha Jayne and Arturo Perez Jr. directed the film.

 In addition to writing the script, Fey also stars in it, stepping back into her role from the original movie as Ms. Norbury with fellow castmate Tim Meadows also joining her again as Mr./Principal Duvall. The new mean girls in town are Angourie Rice (Cady Heron), Reneé Rapp (Regina George), Bebe Wood (Gretchen Wieners), and Avantika (Karen Shetty). Stepping into the roles of Cady’s sidekicks, Janis and Damian, are Auli’i Cravalho and Jaquel Spivey. Christopher Briney plays love interest Aaron Samuels. Other stars joining Mean Girls are Jenna Fischer, Ashley Park, Busy Philipps, and Jon Hamm.

 Mean Girls is set to stride into theaters on Jan. 12.
