Max Unveils 626 Night Market Pop-Up Experience in Santa Monica to Celebrate HBO’s ‘The Sympathizer’
HBO’s original limited series, “The Sympathizer”, premieres on April 14. To celebrate the show’s debut, Max is partnering with 626 Night Market in Santa Monica, offering fans a one-of-a-kind experience.
Drawing inspiration from the series, this event is a vibrant celebration of culture, community, and storytelling. Set to take place on Saturday, April 13, and Sunday, April 14, from 1 p.m. to 10 p.m., guests are invited to immerse themselves in the dynamic world of Vietnamese cuisine, art, and entertainment. The event is completely free and open to the public, welcoming all to join in the festivities.
The market will showcase Vietnamese food vendors like All Dat Dumpling, All Dat Noodle, Café 949, Ridges Churro Bar, and The Ugly Bao, along with merchandise vendors such as Steve Minty. Attendees can also expect HBO x THE SYMPATHIZER branded elements and photo opportunities, drawing inspiration from both the series and traditional Asian night markets.
On Saturday, April 13, guests can enjoy live music by Vietnamese-American DJs Demonslayer and Annalog, alongside a special performance by Vietnamese-American artist Dolly Ave from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.
Adapted from Viet Thanh Nguyen’s Pulitzer Prize-winning novel, “The Sympathizer” is an espionage thriller and cross-cultural satire depicting the challenges of a half-French, half-Vietnamese communist spy during the Vietnam War’s final days and his subsequent refugee life in Los Angeles.
The HBO Original limited series debuts on Sunday, April 14 on HBO at 9 p.m. ET/PT and is available for streaming on Max.
