Love, Laughter and Those Perfect Camera Looks: Eric Ledgin on St. Denis Medical Season 3
Hollywood First Look sits down with Eric Ledgin, co-creator, showrunner, and executive producer of St. Denis Medical, to explore Season 3 of NBC’s workplace comedy, where romantic complications, personal struggles, and unexpected medical emergencies keep the hospital staff on their toes.
Eric reveals why finally bringing Matt and Serena together creates a whole new set of comedic opportunities, especially as the couple navigates the challenges of dating while working side by side. He also addresses Ron’s surprising confession about Joyce and explains why their unresolved feelings don’t necessarily mean romance is in their future.
The conversation takes a more serious turn as Eric reflects on Ron’s health scare and the importance of giving characters genuine emotional moments without sacrificing the show’s humor. He also reveals the secret behind those perfectly timed looks into the camera, explaining how some are scripted while others come naturally from the cast. Drawing from his experience on It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia and American Auto, Eric shares why staying true to a character is one of the most important ingredients in great comedy.
