Kelly Clarkson and Snoop Dogg team up to host NBC’s ‘American Song Contest’

The live series premieres on March 21

Kelly Clarkson is putting her hosting skills to good use for NBC’s newest competition. And her co-hosting sidekick? None other than the OG himself Snoop Dogg. The two award-winning artists will host the series, which comes from the producers of “Eurovision Song Contest” and “The Voice.” This will be an American version of the hit series “Eurovision Song Contest,” which brings in over 200 million viewers annually.

The live series will premiere on March 21 and air from 8 pm -10 pm EST and will run for eight weeks. The Grand Final will take place on May 9, and the competition will feature solo artists, duos, or bands that will hail from every corner of the United States.

Producer Anders Lenhof likens the competition to the Olympics, with music being the sport and having competitors from all 50 states and five territories converging to compete for the Gold. Clarkson is the first winner of the highly successful singing show “American Idol” and currently hosts “The Kelly Clarkson Show” on NBC. Snoop, who recently rocked the world with his Super Bowl performance, is a multi-platinum artist, actor, philanthropist, and entertainment icon who rose to fame in the ’90s alongside good friend and fellow halftime performer, Dr. Dre.

The 56 artists competing in the “American Song Contest” will be named at a later date.
