James Hong has always been a star, but now, he officially has one on the Hollywood Walk of Fame – and at the age of 93. Hong was joined by celebrity guest speakers Daniel Dae Kim and Jamie Lee Curtis. Out of more than 2,700, he is only one of just 19 people of Asian descent to have made it on the Walk of Fame.
Hong told the crowd that he hoped to soak up the occasion. “As you can see, I don’t have any speeches, because I’m not that kind of person. I just come here. I want to feel the moment,” said Hong.
Hong, one of Hollywood’s most prolific stars, has over 700 credits to his name, including “Blade Runner,” “Mulan,” “Kung Fu Panda” and most recently, “Everything Everywhere All at Once.” In the film, the actor plays Gong Gong, the father of the main character, Evelyn.
The Hollywood event also featured a lion dance Hong arranged himself, in addition to the speeches that were made. Daniel Dae Kim was instrumental in getting Hong his star and started a petition to make it happen.
Congratulations to the legendary actor!
