‘Here Lies Love’ musical is Broadway’s first-ever all-Filipino cast

In honor of AAPI Heritage Month, the upcoming Broadway musical “Here Lies Love” has announced that it features the first-ever all-Filipino cast. Adapted from the 2010 album of the same name by David Byrne and Fatboy Slim, the musical tells the story of Imelda Marcos, the former First Lady of the Philippines, and her rise and fall from power. Produced by Lea Salonga, who is known for her roles in “Miss Saigon” and as the voice of “Mulan,” and choreographed by Annie-B Parson, the musical is set to open on July 20.

The cast includes several Broadway alums, including Melody Butiu (“Doctor Zhivago”), Jaygee Macapugay (“Shucked”), Julia Abueva (“KPOP”), Aaron Alcaraz (“Mean Girls”), Kristina Doucette (“Wicked”), Jeigh Madjus (“Moulin Rouge!”), Geena Quintos (“Miss Saigon”), Shea Renne (“Hadestown”), and Angelo Soriano (“Aladdin”). Additionally, Moses Villarama, Jasmine Forsberg, Reanne Acasio, Renée Albulario, Carol Angeli, Nathan Angelo, Roy Flores, Timothy Matthew Flores, Sarah Kay, and Aaron Mercado are also part of the cast.
