Universal Pictures has released the trailer for Matthew Vaughn’s latest spy thriller Argylle. Vaughn, director of the Kingsman franchise, directs Henry Cavill and Bryce Dallas Howard in this story of a reclusive best-selling author turned possible clairvoyant.
In the trailer, we find Elly Conway (Howard) reading on a train when she is confronted by strange men who appear to be trying to kidnap her; fortunately for her and her cat Alfie, Aiden, portrayed by Sam Rockwell, steps in to help them and guide them away from harm’s way. Aiden then explains to Elly that her books are mirroring and perhaps predicting the future of actual spy missions happening in the real world. Given her unique gift for predicting events, the character played by Bryan Cranston is interested in capturing Elly to have her write the next chapter in her book and perhaps influence the outcome of spy missions.
Argylle boasts a stellar cast, with Cavill leading as the titular secret spy agent, the main character in Elly’s books. Other stars joining him, Howard, Rockwell, and Cranston, are Sofia Boutella, Rob Delaney, Catherine O’Hara, Dua Lipa, John Cena, and Samuel L. Jackson.
Argylle opens in theaters early next year on Feb. 2.
