As if the world didn’t already know that Lana Condor and Cole Sprouse were out of this world, the “Moonshot” trailer just validated it. In the new sci-fi/romantic comedy, Sprouse follows Condor to Mars in hopes that the two of them can unite with their significant others.
Condor plays Sophie, a twenty-something who travels past the ends of the earth for the guy who checks off every box on her list – her long-term boyfriend Calvin, played by Mason Gooding. Calvin, a published scientist, had taken a temporary job “out of town” that turned into something a bit more permanent. Condor decides to take a leap of faith and enrolls in the Mars program to remove the distance part of their long-distance relationship.
Walt, played by Sprouse, is quite content living the life he has laid out – until he meets Ginny [Emily Rudd]. Convinced she’s the one, Walt sneaks onto the spaceship with Sophie, where the two inevitably team up under the guise of boyfriend and girlfriend to make it to the Red Planet, where he believes his new life is waiting.
When true love is written in the stars, will you cross the universe to make it your world? Walt and Sophie put this theory to the test, and their whole journey unfolds in “Moonshot.”
“Moonshot” is directed by Christopher Winterbauer [‘Wyrm’]. The film stars Cole Sprouse [‘Riverdale’], Lana Condor [‘To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before’ trilogy], Mason Gooding [‘Scream’], Emily Rudd [‘Fear Street’ trilogy], and Zach Braff [‘Garden State’]. The movie was written by Max Taxe and produced by Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter, Jill McElroy, and Jenna Sarkin.
“Moonshot” is being produced by New Line Cinema, Berlanti Schechter Films, and Entertainment 360 and will stream exclusively on HBO Max beginning March 31, 2022.
