Searchlight Pictures has debuted the trailer for the upcoming film, “Fire Island.” Inspired by the Jane Austen novel, the timeless love story centers on Noah [Joel Kim Booster] and Howie [Bowen Yang] – two gay best friends whose summer vacation in Fire Island Pines takes them on a romance-fueled adventure in the epicenter of queer culture.
The film is written by Booster (“Sunnyside,” “Big Mouth”), who revealed the backstory to EW, recounting his first trip to Fire Island with his longtime friend Yang (“Saturday Night Live,” “Awkwafina Is Nora From Queens”) as what spawned the idea. This is Booster’s first feature film that he has written, produced, and starred in for a major studio. Andrew Ahn (“Spa Night,” “This Close”) directs.
The movie also stars Conrad Ricamora [Will] and James Scully [Charlie] as wealthy vacationers. Matt Rogers, who co-hosts the podcast “Las Culturistas” with Yang, plays Luke in the film. Joining the cast are Margaret Cho, Nick Adams, Tomás Matos, Torian Miller, and Zane Phillips.
“Fire Island” premieres exclusively on Hulu on June 3.
