Élodie Yung Shares Her Personal Journey and Cambodian Roots in Celebration of AANHPI Heritage Month: ‘The Cleaning Lady’ Star’s Inspirational Story

As we celebrate the significance of AANHPI Heritage Month, The Cleaning Lady star, Élodie Yung, shares her deeply personal story, particularly about her Cambodian roots. In this video, she speaks about her dad. His father was a judge, his mother was a teacher, and he had 10 brothers and sisters. Her dad managed to escape Cambodia, forced to leave everyone behind. The star of FOX’s hit show credits her dad’s resilience for her own. “I look at him, and I look at my family, and I look at my past, and I just know I have a strong connection…” she says in the new video. This is how she relates to her roots.

The Cleaning Lady airs Tuesdays on FOX and the next day on Hulu. The series follows Yung’s character (Thony De La Rosa), a Cambodian doctor who comes to the U.S. to obtain medical treatment for her son. After the system fails her, Thony takes the situation into her own hands.

In the third season of The Cleaning Lady, tension reaches new levels as Arman’s whereabouts remain shrouded in mystery while Thony navigates the labyrinth of bringing Fiona back to the U.S. after her deportation to the Philippines. With Thony on a solitary quest, her once-familiar world transforms into a battleground where she fiercely defends her family, propelling her into an uneasy alliance with a dangerous Cartel. As her journey unfolds, each step she takes plunges her deeper into the shadows, testing her resolve and loyalty.

The Cleaning Lady features a talented cast, including Yung, Martha Millan, Sebastien and Valentino LaSalle, Sean Lew, Faith Bryant, Eva De Dominici, Kate del Castillo, and Santiago Cabrera. This season welcomes guest stars like Brandon Jay McLaren, Clayton Cardenas, JB Tadena, and others. Produced by Warner Bros. Television and FOX Entertainment, the series was developed by Miranda Kwok, who also serves as an executive producer alongside Jeannine Renshaw. Rose Marie Vega and Paola Suarez are also executive producers.
