‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ Makes Triumphant Entrance into the MCU

Deadpool & Wolverine, Marvel’s most anticipated movie of the year, has finally landed in theaters, and it’s a refreshing blast of cool water on a hot summer’s day.

As would be expected from a Deadpool movie, it was full of that delicious sarcasm that only Ryan Reynolds can deliver so effortlessly.  The film also gives its protagonist so many great moments to connect with the audience as only the Merc with a Mouth can by breaking the fabled fourth wall – a signature style of the franchise. Reynolds reprises his role for a third time as Deadpool and returns with even more pizzazz, delivering line after line of jokes and humorous references that had audiences belting out hearty laughs.

We also get the long-awaited return of the one and only Hugh Jackman as Logan, or Wolverine, and it’s oh-so glorious! Honestly, the man is Wolverine. It’s hard to picture another actor embodying that character because he absolutely kills those performances every single time, and this one was no exception. Paired up with Reynold’s Deadpool, they were so much fun to watch. Their real-life friendship transferred easily to their characters on the big screen. It was also nice to see a lighter side to Wolverine than in previous films.

Deadpool officially joining Disney’s MCU (and their massive budget) came with its perks as the film surprises with numerous cameos with major acting heavy hitters. Audible gasps of delight and surprise could be heard among audiences as some unexpected characters appeared on the screen. All the cameos were well done and supported the storyline beautifully.

Deadpool & Wolverine sees the return of several of its former cast members, including Morena Baccarin, Rob Delaney, Leslie Uggams, Karan Soni, Brianna Hildebrand, and Shioli Kutsuna. Newcomers to the R-rated franchise are Emma Corrin, Matthew Macfayden, Jon Favreau, Aaron Stanford, and Tyler Mane.  And who can forget Mary Puppins, a.k.a. Dogpool – that puppy, whose actual name is Peggy, gives Reynolds and Jackman a run for their money because she has major star power and is adorable to watch on screen.

Deadpool & Wolverine is the perfect movie to watch this summer. It’s funny, silly, cheesy, easy, and, of course, gory, too. It’s a movie that allows you to laugh without abandon. It’s a good time!

You can catch Deadpool & Wolverine in theaters now.
