Clayface director James Watkins discusses revenge, trauma, the monsters within us, and his love for Humphrey Bogart.

Hollywood First Look sits down with director James Watkins to talk about his DC Studios film Clayface, a psychological horror thriller about a rising Hollywood actor whose desperate attempt to reclaim his life leads him down a dangerous path of revenge.
Watkins explores the complicated psychology of Matt Hagen, (played by Tom Rhys Harries), and why getting a second chance doesn’t necessarily mean making the right choices. He discusses how trauma and injustice can awaken our darkest impulses and draws a fascinating connection between Clayface and his previous thriller Speak No Evil. Watkins also shares why he believes the most terrifying monsters exist within us all and reveals his admiration for Humphrey Bogart and the classic film Casablanca.
