Hollywood favorite Chris Evans is in final negotiations to join Netflix’s Pain Hustlers opposite Emily Blunt. David Yates directs the film, and Netlfix won the global rights to it for $50 million. Deadline today shared additional news since the initial announcement at Cannes.
The film centers around Emily Blunt’s character Liza Drake – a high school dropout who dreams of a better life for herself and young daughter. After landing a job with a failing pharmaceutical company, she turns the company around into a profitable venture with her pluck and drive. But that’s where the charm ends, and she soon finds herself embroiled in a criminal conspiracy with deadly consequences.
Production is expected to begin later this year in August. The film has been billed as a cross between The Big Short, American Hustle, and The Wolf of Wall Street.
Lawrence Grey is producing under Grey Matter Productions next to Yates and Yvonne Walcott Yates’ Wychwood Pictures. Lewis Taylor and Ben Everard will serve as executive producers. Cyrus Mojibi, Patrick Wade, Lawrence Kao, and Lloyd Everard are on board as co-producers. The script is penned by Wells Tower.
