Chris Evans and Dwayne Johnson set to star in Amazon Studios’ ‘Red One’

The holiday film is slated for a 2023 holiday release

After a highly competitive bidding war last year, Amazon Studios will be developing an original story from Hiram Garcia, President of Production at Seven Bucks Productions, currently titled “Red One.” Dany Garcia, also at Seven Bucks Productions, will be producing alongside Hiram Garcia and Dwayne Johnson.

Jake Kasdan, known for “Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle” and “Jumanji: The Next Level,” will be directing. Kasdan will work alongside Melvin Mar and Sky Salem Robinson to produce the film on behalf of his production company, The Detective Agency. This project reunites Kasdan, Dwayne Johnson, and Seven Bucks Productions, following the success of their “Jumanji” franchise. In addition, Chris Morgan, known for his work with the “Fast & Furious” franchise, will produce and write the movie.

Johnson, who announced his involvement with the film in June, will be starring alongside Chris Evans. The movie is described as a “globe-trotting, four-quadrant action-adventure comedy” and is said to be opening up a new universe to explore within the holiday genre. Production for “Red One” is projected to begin this year, and the film is expected to be released just in time for the 2023 holiday season.
