‘Bridgerton’ Begins Production of Season 4 with New Cast and Studio Backlot

Netflix and Shondaland announced that Bridgerton has begun production in its fourth season, and with it comes a new cast and a new studio backlot to film from.

This new season will follow Benedict Bridgerton, the second son of the aristocratic family, as he seeks to find the lady in silver who mesmerizes him at his mother’s masquerade ball. Luke Thompson returns as Benedict and Yerin Ha plays opposite him as Sophie Baek, the mysterious lady in silver who captivates him.

New cast members announced who will join Thompson and Ha in season four are Katie Leung (The Peripheral), Michelle Mao (A Big Bold Beautiful Journey), and Isabella Wei (1899). Leung will play Lady Araminta Gun, a twice-married and twice-widower feeling pressured to marry off one of her two daughters debuting on the marriage mart this season. She is a discerning and blunt woman who doesn’t take well to anything and anyone threatening her standing in society. Mao will be taking on the role of Rosamund Li, Araminta’s beautiful but vain eldest daughter, who sets her eyes on Benedict Bridgerton and is determined to get what she wants. Wei will take on Posy Li, Araminta’s much kinder and friendlier second daughter, whose chatty nature often has her putting her foot in her mouth.

It was also announced that Emma Naomi and Hugh Sachs will return to reprise their roles as Alice Mondrich and Brimsley, respectively, and will be part of the main cast this season.

Netflix and Shondaland also shared the new backlots built for the show at Shepperton Studios in the United Kingdom that will serve as background this season. The new spaces designed by Bridgertons production designer Alison Gartshore in collaboration with supervising art director Antony Cartlidge and art director Adam David Grant, feature replicas of Georgian and Regency architecture, including homes, buildings, and Mayfair Street that promise to transport audiences to a world of Regency-era splendor.
