BLACKPINK becomes first girl group since 2008 to debut at No. 1 on Billboard 200

They’ve done it again! BLACKPINK has reached the top of the Billboard 200 albums chart with their first album to debut at No. 1, Born Pink. BLACKPINK’s second studio album reached 102,000 equivalent album units in the U.S. last week. This makes BLACKPINK the first girl group to debut at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 in any country since 2008’s Danity Kane with “Welcome to the Dollhouse.” The K-pop sensations have had the largest sales week of any 2022 album so far, with 75,500 copies sold. In total there are 17 variations of the album.

Born Pink features the title track “Shut Down,” which BLACKPINK recently performed on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” The album also includes the pre-release song “Pink Venom” which the stars debuted at the 2022 Video Music Awards, where BLACKPINK won Best Metaverse Performance for their virtual concert and collaboration with “PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds Mobile.”

The group is set to begin their world tour next month, commencing in Seoul, South Korea, and spanning 25 cities around the world.
