Billy Porter Brings Fashion, Humor, and a Darker Side to The Hunger Games

Hollywood First Look sits down with Billy Porter to explore The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping, the highly anticipated prequel in which he portrays “Magno Stift,” a District 12 stylist who has grown disillusioned with the brutality of the Hunger Games.

Known for his unforgettable fashion moments and larger-than-life performances, Billy reveals why Magno has lost his enthusiasm for styling tributes and how his character’s frustration with the Capitol has left him emotionally withdrawn. He also explains how revisiting the original films and books helped him understand Magno’s place in the larger story.

On a lighter note, Billy recalls reuniting with Glenn Close, who plays his estranged wife, Drusilla Sickle, and jokes about how enthusiastically they embraced their scenes together. The conversation also explores what continues to surprise him creatively after years of success across Broadway, television, music, and film. And in true Billy Porter fashion, he shares his fabulous vision for styling Haymitch Abernathy, complete with superhero-inspired armor and a mysterious mask!
