Beyond the Boxing Ring: Giovanni Ribisi and Amin Joseph Reveal the Men Who Shaped Muhammad Ali
Hollywood First Look sits down with Giovanni Ribisi and Amin Joseph to explore The Greatest, Prime Video’s authorized scripted series about Muhammad Ali, highlighting two influential figures whose relationships with the legendary boxer helped shape his extraordinary career.
Amin reveals a surprisingly different side of Sonny Liston, the intimidating heavyweight champion whose reputation often overshadowed his personality. After researching historical photographs, Amin discovered a man who loved his family, enjoyed making people laugh, and possessed a complexity rarely seen by the public. Giovanni reflects on portraying Angelo Dundee, the legendary trainer who understood that bringing out the best in a fighter required patience, trust, and knowing when to step aside. He also recalls an unforgettable moment on set with Jaalen Best when an unscripted pause turned into laughter, perfectly capturing the connection between Ali and his trainer. Together, the actors offer a more human perspective on the men who stood on opposite sides of Muhammad Ali’s rise to greatness.
