Warner Bros. Pictures has just released the teaser poster for Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, the long-awaited sequel to the 1988 classic.
Tim Burton returns to direct this new installment, with Michael Keaton returning as the lead once again, taking on the iconic role of Beetlejuice. Also returning to reprise their roles as Lydia Deetz and Delia Deetz are Winona Ryder (Stranger Things, Little Women) and Catherine O’Hara (Schitt$ Creek, The Nightmare Before Christmas), respectively.
The new story will center around the return home of the Deetz family to Winter River after an unexpected family tragedy. While home, Lydia’s rebellious teenage daughter, Astrid, played by newcomer Jenna Ortega (Wednesday, Scream VI), discovers the mysterious model of the town in the attic that accidentally opens the portal to the afterlife.
Joining Ortega as newcomers to the cast are Justin Theroux (Star Wars: Episode VIII – The Last Jedi, The Leftovers), Monica Bellucci (Spectre, The Matrix films), Arthur Conti (House of the Dragon), and Willem Dafoe (Poor Things, At Eternity’s Gate).
Alfred Gough (Wednesday), Miles Millar (Wednesday), and Seth Grahame-Smith (The LEGO® Batman Movie) wrote the script based on characters created by Michael McDowell & Larry Wilson. David Geffen, Marc Toberoff, Dede Gardner, Jeremy Kleiner, Tommy Harper, and Burton produced the film, with Sara Desmond, Katterli Frauenfelder, Gough, Millar, Brad Pitt, Larry Wilson, Laurence Senelick, Pete Chiappetta, Andrew Lary, Anthony Tittanegro, Grahame-Smith and David Katzenberg executive producing.
Beetlejuice Beetlejuice is set to appear in theaters on Sept. 6.
