After the massive success of Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, Marvel has tapped the film’s director Destin Daniel Cretton to helm Avengers: The Kang Dynasty.
Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige announced that the film was in development, and the studio will now look to add a writer to the project as meetings are currently underway.
The film is expected to arrive in theaters on May 2, 2025, while another Avengers movie, Avengers: Secret Wars, will be released later that year on November 7, 2025.
Not much is known about the sequel other than it will focus on Marvel’s new main villain, Kang (Jonathan Majors), who is expected to play a major role in this new phase of movies culminating in the massive Avengers pics.
Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings grossed $432 million worldwide, making him a sure bet for Marvel and leading Cretton to sign a deal with the studio. Cretton is in the midst of working with writer-producer Andrew Guest to produce a live-action series featuring Wonder Man that he will executive produce and possibly direct an episode or more. Cretton also has a Shang-Chi sequel in the works making him a Marvel machine!
