Apple TV+ is jumping into the holidays early this year with the release of Spirited, a film inspired by Charles Dickens’s A Christmas Carol. Comedic veterans Will Ferrell and Ryan Reynolds will team up to lead audiences through this version of the Christmas classic.
To celebrate, Apple TV+ hosted a premiere at the Lincoln Center in New York, where many celebrities, including the cast, showed up to support the film. Ferrell and Reynolds attended with their fellow cast members, Octavia Spencer, Sunita Mani, and Patrick Page. Mariah Carey, the Queen of Christmas, also attended the premiere accompanied by her twins.
Spirited puts a fun and musical spin on this classic tale by telling the story from the ghosts’ perspectives. The Ghost of Christmas Present (Ferrell) takes on the challenge of reforming the Scrooge of the story, Clint Briggs (Reynolds), only to find himself reexamining his past, present, and future.
Sean Anders (Daddy’s Home) directed the film and co-wrote it with John Morris. Oscar winners Benj Pasek and Justin Paul (La La Land) wrote the original songs, while Chloe Arnold (The Late Late Show with James Corden) choreographed the production numbers.
Spirited will debut in theaters on Nov. 11, followed by the release on the streaming service on Nov. 18.
