Agents of Chaos and Uncontrollable Laughter: Allison Tolman and Kaliko Kauahi on St. Denis Medical
Hollywood First Look sits down with Allison Tolman and Kaliko Kauahi to explore Season 3 of St. Denis Medical, NBC’s workplace comedy where keeping the hospital running smoothly is nearly impossible when the staff members are just as unpredictable as their patients.
Allison reveals how Alex’s carefully separated personal and professional lives begin overlapping as her husband becomes a more frequent presence at the hospital. Meanwhile, Kaliko embraces Val’s unofficial role as the person who keeps everyone in check, although she admits her character might actually be the one creating the chaos. The two also reflect on Alex’s hilarious clashes with Ron and what makes their fellow cast members such entertaining scene partners.
Kaliko shares why playing the outspoken Val is such a refreshing change from her beloved character Sandra on Superstore. And when the conversation turns to the moments that nearly made them break character, the actresses recall David Alan Grier’s increasingly outrageous Soul Train dance moves and Wendi McLendon-Covey’s unforgettable struggle to escape an ergonomic chair. As Allison and Kaliko agree, the show could definitely use an outtakes reel!
